Welcome to Death & Dying in Iran
This is a cultural history about mourning, memorializing the dead, and the nature of the beliefs about dying and the afterlife among the many cultures and religions of Iran from ancient times until the present. Many major religions were influenced by traditions from this area. Some of the religious history of ancient Iran is shared with ancient India where other major traditions also arose from these Indo-Iranian-Aryan roots. And of course, in turn, the native religions of the Indo-Iranians were influenced by the traditions of other non-Aryan groups.
